EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

Purpose

Launch a mobile service to pick up groceries for families and to deliver them at their homes so as to save their precious time and effort.

Process

I will buy two delivery vans to provide the aforementioned service. I will hire two good capable drivers for driving the vans. Other than the drivers, I will recruit 8 more persons for loading and unloading the groceries from the vans, and carry them around. I will provide my employees with mobile phones for communication purpose. I will buy uniforms for them with the logo for our service. I will advertise my newly launched service in the local newspapers, television channels and the local radio station. I will also distribute leaflets for the same at the homes of families and in the neighborhood stores. I will also use social media like Facebook and Twitter to advertise my service. I will also announce 10% discount for first-time customers.

Findings

I have done a small survey in the neighborhood about the type of service I am going to launch. There is currently only one service provider offering this type of service in the whole neighborhood. I have taken a feedback from the families availing its service and found out that they were not very much satisfied as there were often delays in deliveries and also sometimes the delivery was not done fully as some grocery items would be left out by mistake by the service provider. Hence, I find a fair amount of opportunity in providing this type of service as there is only one service provider at the present moment in the entire neighborhood and also there are gaps in its services.

Conclusion

I have found out from a proper estimation that an initial investment of $ 3,000 would be required to start the service. The investment amount is not that big. Moreover, I have estimated that the business would start making profits within the first two months of its commencement. And this type of need is there in almost all the households. Therefore I recommend starting this service within the next one month.
