Question
Beth works with Ron, and always tells Ron about her sick dying daughter. Ron gets annoyed with her conversations, because Beth should not be discussing her daughter at work and tells their boss, Tommy that Beth’s daughter is sick and has a contagious disease (when in fact the disease is not contagious). Tommy immediately fires Beth without any reasons. Beth later learns from Kate what Ron told Tommy, and wants to sue him. Does she have any action against him? List the actions, and explain how successful they would be in your opinion. Can Beth sue Tommy in the scenario above for wrongful termination?
Explanation / Answer
Beth Can Sue Tommy if there is legal agreement done between company and Beth . Legal agreement clearly should state that employee can be terminated only on specific grounds, but not as per the wish of the boses .
Ron and Tommy must discuss with Beth and explain her that she should not speak about the personal issues in office . But they should not sack her for this silly reason. It could have been discussed and closed.
