Question
Fans Cooling CoilsTime (hours) Economy Standard Deluxe 8 12 14 4 For the coming production period, the company has 200 an motors, 320 cooling coils, and 24 maximize profit? The linear programming model for the problem is as follows: hours o manufacturin time available. How many econom dels standardmodels anddel e models should e company duce nor erto Max 63E95S135D 1E1S1Ds 200 Fan motors 1E 2S4D 320 Cooling coils 8E12S+ 14D s 2400 Manufacturing time 1E1SD s 200 Fan motors E,S,D20 The computer solution is shown in the figure below.Explanation / Answer
a) The optimal solution is the values of the variables shown in the first table.
When 80-Economy models and 120 – Standard Models are made, we would have the maximum profit of $16440.00.
E – 80
S – 120
D – 0
Objective Function – Profit – 16440
b) Any changes in the binding constraint would change the solution. Here, the binding constraints are for Fan and Coils. Any change in the limits on theses constraints will change the final optimal solution. The changes in Time are not binding, to an extent, the change in time constraint does not change the final optimal solution.
c) With the available optimal solution, Fans and Coils have no extra capacity. Both use the maximum available of 200 and 320 each. However, we still have extra capacity in Manufacturing Time of 320 hours. The same is shown under slack column in the solution table.
d) The final solution does not change even when the profit for deluxe changes to $150. The allowable increase is $24. Which means the solution does not change up to profit value of $135+24 = 159$.
