You have been asked by senior management within the hospital you currently work, which provides health care services for a substantial population of patients covered by Medicare insurance, to define 3 of the most important challenges which this patient population faces, with regard to paying for and receiving health care related benefits under the Medicare program. Assemble a 400 word brief which identifies these challenges and provide a brief statement of your rationale for selecting them.

The biggest challenge in hospitals is managing frontline staff. Issues related to understanding priorities, management skills, motivation, autonomy, and information. Lack of clearly defined roles and responsibilities, lack of talent management functions to recruit, develop, reward, and retain frontline managers, lack of empowering culture and collaboration to serve communities, disciplined performance management practices make them to focus narrowly, lack of right IT systems to support frontline decision making.
2. Healthcare costs
Healthcare industry is under tremendous pressure from the insurance companies , government, employers and patients to reduce the cost, improve quality and shift health care to prevention but also to dramatically reduce costs. Many initiatives technology initiatives taken to reduce the cost and invest in new disrupters such outpatient settings, including maintaining or partnering with new ambulatory, retail, specialty and urgent clinics—all of them located outside traditional hospitals.
3. Technology adoption:
Technology development allowing patients to monitor their vital parameter through smartphones. The majority of healthcare user seek personalized treatment and customized medicines for the diseases which we can’t offer through our current healthcare system. Technology up gradation is required and focus should be more on good care than sick care. It is more of preventive care than curing the disease. The current model was built to cater to the sick care and made for the preventive care.Insurance companies are more interested in cell care than healthcare because it reduces their cost and improves their profitability. Customers are more interested in preventive care.
All above-mentioned challenges forcing the hospital to invent new business model to serve the customer and meet the expectation of stakeholders such as governments, insurance companies, and communities.
