Question
SOMEBODY PLEASE HELP!
WHAT WOULD BE THE KEQ RATO of 7.2 vs 6.9 &&&& WHAT COLOR DO YOU EXPECT
AND WHY!!!
An unusual lactate dehydrogenase, isolated from the organism Studentia tulaneous, was found to use FAD, rather than NAD+, as an oxidizing agent. Two students were investigating this enzyme. One student, Barbie Dahl, decided to work with this enzyme at pH = 6.9. The other student, Howie Didit, decided to work with this enzyme at pH 7.2, assuming the reaction equilibrium would be more favorable at this pH. Was Howie correct? What wou expect the K'eq ratio to be at pH 7.2 vs. pH 6.9 for this FAD-dependent dehydrogenase? What color do you expect this enzyme to be? Why?Explanation / Answer
Howie was correct , because pHregulates homotropic effect by changes in the value of intermediate intrinsic association constant . From pH 7.2-7.7 LDH exhibited positive interaction with pyruvate , at pH values below 7.2 enzyme showed substrate inhibition , so Howie was correct .
Keq would change , if the reaction is performed at pH 7.2.
