You mention retail stores. Another layout strategy that many department stores use is to group their clothes by designer name or brand rather than by the article of clothing. For example, if I am looking for a sweater, I would have to wonder throughout the entire store and look at each different collection to find sweaters. This encourages more shopping and hopefully more spending. There is careful thought and planning when choosing the best layout design for increasing business. Any other examples you can think of that use the layout strategy?

Electronics store is another example of layout strategy. Gadgets are displayed by brands, rather than by cateogy. This is done with a purpose to ensure that every brand gets almost the same attention from the consumers, as well as to increase the possibility of cross-selling accessories and other linked products, when a customer intends to buy just one product.
Departmental store is one more example of layout strategy. Same strategy is used in order to maximise consumer spending and balance the spending across multiple products and brands, with a view to maximise revenue and minimise inventory holding of particular products or brands.
