In recent years, as businesses and individuals have struggled with a slow economic recovery, a growing number of workers have said that they have faced discrimination by employers. The Equal Employment Opportunity Commission reported in January 2011 that charges broke the 2010 record, hitting an all-time high of 99,947 in 2011. Charges of race and sex discrimination remained the top complaints, although their numbers actually declined. Charges of disability and age discrimination rose, however.

Sexual harassment is defined as unwelcome sexual advances,requests for sexual favours,and other verbal and physical conduct of a sexual nature when the conduct is made as a condition of an individual's employment, the acceptance and refusal of such conduct is used as the basis for the decisions effecting individual's employment,or the conduct unreasonably impacts an individual's employment performance.

There are basically two types of sexual harassment.one is Quid pro quo and another is hostile environment.Quid pro quo sexual harassment occures when it is stated or implied that an employment decision about an employee depends on whether the employee submits to conduct of a sexual nature.Hostile environment sexual harassment occures when unwelcome conduct of a sexual nature creates an intimidating,threatning or abusive working environment that effects the persons ability to perform in the organization.
