Your assignment is to answer the following questions based on the “Feedback Roleplay.”:
What are Lauren and Anthony’s specific goals in the negotiation?

Negotiation at the Organization
In the video, Negotiation in Organizations, Lauren, and Anthony’ primary goal is to look out for a conclusion on whose employees should take the overtime at the company and complete a five-month project that has only two months left. In the feedback role play, they argue as each try to convince the other to allow employees to finish the organizational work.
A tactic is the main element used by Lauren and Anthony to address this issue. Each one of the individuals is using different tactics to dodge the other’s responses. For instance, when Anthony suggests that Lauren’s employees should complete the project his workers has been on it for the past three months, she intelligently argues that hers are new to the particular job; hence, do not have the adequate intellect to handle it alone.
In the negotiation, Lauren and Anthony have utilized the four of the five steps outlined by Fisher and Ury. In the argument, Anthony has tried to bargain that his employees have been on the project for three months; hence, they are not supposed to take the overtime anymore. By this, it illustrates that they have not separated the people from the problem of which is one of the steps. However, they have utilized the other steps of; concentrating on the interest and not positions, objective criteria insistence, the invention of choices for mutual gain and knowing the Best Alternative to Negotiated Agreement.
Lauren was more persuasive than Anthony in the bargain. She was disadvantaged since her employees had not done any part of the project and yet she had ideas that she utilized to weaken Anthony’s points. Also, she was able to persuade him to look for more arguing points.
In the negotiation, there was a perception by Anthony that since his employees have been taking all the overtime during the three months, they were supposed to be relieved for a vacation and leave the task to Lauren’s who had not done anything. The communication was agreeable since they both allowed the other to state his or her point before responding. Also, there is no obvious ethically questionable tactic by any of them since they negotiated knowledgeably until they came to a conclusion. However, Anthony had more bargaining power than Lauren since his employees had been in the project for the most of the work’s total overtime duration; therefore, arguably they deserved a better vacation.
Lauren won the negotiation over Anthony. She introduced a 50-50 sharing of the work in the argument where the employees from both sides would take the overtime for a month each. To illustrate that she won is the fact that Anthony finally agreed to the idea although initially he wanted his employees to be offered a proper vacation.
