6-37) Sensation is defined as the passive process of bringing information from outside world into the body and to the brain. This process is passive as one need not have to engage in a “Sensing” Process. Perception is defined as the active process of selecting, Organizing and interpreting the information brought to the brain by the senses. Sensory Organ absorbs energy from a physical stimulus in the environment and sensory receptors converts this energy into neutral impulses and send them to the brain while in case of perception, the brain organizes the information and translates it into something meaningful. In case of brand new car, the sensory receptors have information stored about anything new thus when eye sees a brand new car then all that information about new car started organizing and translate into the picture of a brand new car which is relatable to information observed by eye. Thus sensory receptors play an important role because it directly drives the organization of information and thus influence the perception.
