Question
In recent years weather, especially snow and ice has caused passengers to spend excessive amounts of time on aircraft waiting for the weather to clear prior to deplaning, the DOT has written rules which penalize airlines with fines if certain timeframes are exceeded, this is an area in which airline managers must pay careful attention and monitor weather conditions in order to avoid fines and damage to the airlines reputation. Discuss the impact upon and airline for violating this DOT Rule, also include actions management should institute to prevent this from happening in their airline.
Explanation / Answer
Voilating the rights will have an adverse impact on the company's revenue as this will lead to depositing more penalty to the government. DOT is very strict in this area and hence aviation industry should keep a constant check on weather forecast and should time the flights in a way that does not lead to delay in deplaning and hence save themselves from panelty.
