Evaluate pepsiCo's Global Code of Conduct
Different companies have different standards of business conduct. One way to evaluate a firm's standards is to compare company documents to a leading rival firm. A major rival for PepsiCo is Coca-Cola Company. PepsiCo havs a 38 page Global Code of Conduct document posted on thier coporate website. This exercise give you practice comparing and evaluating standards of business conduct.
Step 1: on a separate sheet of paper, list three aspects that you like most and three aspects that you least like about the pepsico statement.
Step 2: Explain why having a code of conduct business is not sufficient for ensuring ethical behavior in an organization. What other means are necessary to help ensure ethical behavior? Give the class an example of a breach of ethical conduct that you recall in your work experience.

Having a code of conduct is not suficient for ensuring ethical behaviour in an organization since it requires a lot of micro-management. In order to ensure if all the employees comply with the standards of the organization, their daily tasks and activities will have to be monitored carefully. These at times will sometimes be practically impossible due to commitments to other activities. A mere statement by the company will not ensure ethical behaviour rather the companies will have to take extra efforts to instill the company's mission, vision and goal in each and every employee's mind and thoughts. Once the employee's buy-in the mission and the vision of the company, they inturn will help to ensure ethical behaviour.
Breach of Ethical Conduct that recently held in my work place was that of Business Gifts. My company had applied for a loan in a particular branch of a big bank. Though the management was confident that the loan will get sanctioned still they wanted to go an extra mile to make sure that the loan was processed at the earliest. Hence they contacted an ex-Manager of the branch. The ex-Manager then assured our company that loans would be processessed soon and accordingly the loan was sanctioned. The management in turn gave a ransome amount of money as gift to the ex-Manager. Hence this is completely against the code of conduct of business and is a classic example of a breach oh ethical conduct.
