One's intuition can influence a decision when data is not readily available, especially with situations of uncertainty. Class, what about sharing one's intuition and thought process when making a decision? I have found at times managers make decisions based upon intuition and just say "do it", without sharing their reasoning behind their decision. Managers will gain buy-in and commitment for intuition based decision making when such decisions are taken in dynamic and unstructured circumstances. When there are not much evidence to come to logical derivations, then in such cases managers will gain buy-in. Usually, those managers gain buy-in who are highly experienced and who takes intuition based decisions based on their experience and insight. On the other hand, managers who take decisions based on intuitions in such circumstances where there is enough information to take a rational and prudent decision that is based on analysis of information, then he or she will not gain buy-in.
One should share one's decision making approach with others involved in the process. This will create transparency and others will commit themselves to the process. If people are unaware of the decision making approach then they might become wary to extend their full commitment.
