Explanation / Answer
Ability to survive on Poison tree seeds could lead to evolution of a pre-mating isolating barrier between flies from the small island and flies on the main island. The one scenario where this would be possible will be that once they both start surviving on these seeds the migration of species from one island to another for availing food resource will slowly decrease. This decrease will lead the two pure semi-species from each island to eventually become differentiated into two species and will lead to the evolution of isolating mechanisms. Take an example of ecological isolation. Since the habitat preference for each species to mate will be a different island therefore, they will not mate.
