Explanation / Answer

How is the organization socially responsible?

Until a few years ago, Greenpeace, the NGO most important in the world, in terms of ecology and environmental respect, criticized the hazards of the materials with which Apple manufactured its equipment.

The company decided to turn its policy of Corporate Social Responsibility taken into account, growing stronger worldwide ecological movement, the need to respect the environment and the obligation to give good example to society.

Today, the change of this company has been so significant that Greenpeace has already appointed APPLE, as the greenest in the market.
There are many steps that Apple has realized when they began this change, but it was the elimination of hazardous substances the key to this new direction, for example they eliminated mercury from the screens of the MacBook, and glass used, does not contain arsenic.

Its devices are manufactured with smaller dimensions, and the company has achieved its design is not based on hundreds of pieces, but Unibody models; one piece and also recyclable.
And as a consequence of this size reduction equipment; reducing packaging that protect them. As a result, 50% less air boxes in each container.

On the other hand, as Apple explains "there are three ways to reduce energy consumption of a product: using more efficient power sources, components that require less power and programs that manage energy consumption." The company has launched these three ways.

First, the equipment and power supplies have able to reduce power consumption needed to operate them. These actions have led Apple to get the Energy Star label, which certifies that all equipment complies with strict protocols for energy efficiency and environmental compatibility.

Apple has applied this philosophy to their offices and their employees. All company facilities are illuminated with light bulbs and each room has motion sensors that turn on and off depending on whether or not there are people in it.

Finally, to reduce emissions generated when employees go to their offices in the United States already enjoy incentives to use public transportation and have the option of using the free buses powered with biodiesel.

How does the organization manage global operations (if applicable)?

Evidence in the processes and practices of Apple, allow us recognize it as a transnational company, and one example of this is the iPod has become a technological icon of globalization

There are many reasons that put Apple on the cusp of the most powerful and influential multinational corporations. Its philosophy of “being a facilitator of life”. Design and manufacture simple, easy to use and very attractive products for the consumer, the highest selling price of these, their advertising campaigns, its unique position in the sector of consumer electronics and foremost, a base of devoted customers to the company and its brand inside and outside the United States.

Apple does not manufacture its devices in the United States, something that would be very beneficial for this country, but has its factories in China. The reason is manufactured in China simply because it is easier to dominate every aspect of the manufacture of a product. We all know that an electronic device such as the iPhone, for example, is composed of thousands of small parts, and if all these parts are built and assembled in the same factory, work will be easier and less lost.

Apple already dominates the world market for selling online content (music, movies and applications). It operates more than 300 stores in eighteen countries, thousands of distributors and an online store (available in several countries) where its products are sold and technical advice is provided.

How do they ensure that their employees are motivated?

Apple is introducing small benefits such as discounts on products.
The company has also informed some workers about a new initiative called "Blue Sky" that allows small groups of workers spend some of their time to their favorite engineering projects.

Apple has also tried to make personal awards at public events and make greater efforts to retain those workers, who receive work proposals from other companies. Salaries are often on par with other technology companies and the rising price of Apple's stock has been a good incentive for employees to stay

In addition to the privileges, recently adopted by Apple, there are others like free special meals, dry cleaning services in the workplace, the company doctor and free bus, for those who live far away.
Apple is more open to allow employees to take sabbatical periods
