Explanation / Answer

1)
A base calendar is rather like a calendar template that one can apply to a set of resources, a set of tasks, or the project as a whole.

One has to choose a base calendar to become the project calendar, from either the three default MSP base calendars or create own base calendar.

Standard - Default base calendar, Monday to Friday, 8 to 5, lunch noon to 1. This is the default base calendar used for the project, for tasks and for resources.

Night Shift - Usually for graveyard shift, 11 PM to 8 AM, five days a week, lunch 3 AM to 4 AM.

24 Hours – Work never stops here. Typically used for projects in a manufacturing situation, midnight until midnight 7 days a week.

One can use any of the 3 base calendars as the basis for the project calendar, resource calendars and tasks calendars. One can use all three within the same project. Like, apply the standard calendar to the project as a whole, night shift calendar to a certain group of resources and the 24 hours calendar to tasks being carried out by automated equipment.

Standard base calendar is the default project calendar. If want to use a different base calendar – Project – Project Information – Calendar box – select.
