Question
Quote: “As today’s executives struggle with the fallout of a globalized economy, they are likely to make their organizational structures even more complex. It’s like trying to solve a constantly moving Rubik’s Cube. The colors will never line up, no matter how many times you spin it. What results are multi-dimensional matrix structures where decision-making is torturous and unclear; compartmentalized functions that underleverage people’s efforts; or serial reorganizations that create constant uncertainty.”
Question:
Do you agree with the above statement? In your own opinion, what steps would you take to ensure clarity of structure within your organization?
Explanation / Answer
Matrix design or The Matrix management in an organisation can be defined as the practice of including individuals, those who have work in two different separated reporting lines. It is also very commonly you to provide an explanation for the cross functioning as well as the cross business group that trade in cross business unit. By creating and equilibrium between different processes as well as individuals this specific management system is very efficient but it is very complicated as well.
This type of approach helps the organisation to maintain high quality of productivity as well as to ensure the clarity of the structure, designing the structure according to the operational capabilities of the organisation would clarify the structure by a huge margin.
I would not agree with the above statement as creating Complex structure can be tough but it's not impossible and proper approaching designing of the structure helps the organisation to maintain high quality standard in increasing the overall efficiency as well as providing better productivity to the Co-operative structure.
