Explanation / Answer

1. I would not know how many molecules of DNA ( it doesn't even sayhow many chromosomes are in each set), but the nuclei would have 8sets of chromosomes. The normal set amount was doubled in the Sphase. 2. Each person has a pair of sex chromosomes. A female has XX and amale has XY. A female is only able to give a X chromosome to herchild. A male can either give a X or a Y. So any mother can not bea source of a Y chromosome. A father's mother can not be a Ychromosome source because she does not have a Y. A mother's fathercould be a source, but the mother recieved a X from her father, soshe could not pass a Y to the male offspring. A mother's motherdoes not have an Y. Answer D has a father's father who is apossible source of a Y chromosome. The best answer would be E. Allof those relatives are not able to donate a Y chromosome to themale offspring.
