Johnson & Johnson is not on the most ethical company list. You may have to refresh your knowledge of history, but a number of years ago, J&J dealt with a Tylenol scare. Their reaction has often been touted as honest, ethical and timely. In the past several, some of the divisions of J&J have been under fire for their failure to deliver timely and honest information. , J&J has been reprimanded by the FDA on multiple issues involved with use of their products. Please research the issues involving J&J in the past and currently. Please provide your views and comments on how management has behaved in the past few years regarding product issues. J & J has been caught and trapped in many legal issues in past. They had one come with the Talc baby powder issue which has indulge the cancer risk for many women and sued the company. For which they held liable for negligence, conspiracy and failure to provide the necessary information and they were asked to 417$. They have once gone into re-structuring effecting the 3000 employees job in medical division.
When they discover the issues with Tylenol, they immediately recalled the bottles at a cost of $100 million and vanished and banned all advertisement of this product. They consider their responsibility to safe the public. They take the decision immediately without the government instructions themselves and took the responsibility of their wrong ethically. Hence their actions were ethical and proactive and count among consumer's driven approach in history.
