And when a nurse made a medication error and did not report it.
Explanation / Answer
If a physician codes on employee with a wrong code, it would be a disaster as for the specific patient. If the manager knows about the specific process then he/ she should strictly follow the guidelines and remove the specific practice from the organisation. Wrong code can be disastrous for the patient in terms of changes in physician. Other physicians can provide medicines according to the tab which would be very harmful for the patient as the specific tag is not as per his illness. This type of practice can create danger of life and also put a responsibility on the manager as manager is responsible for managing such things inside the organisation. Getting involved in the practice with the physician is also a legal offence which could be troublesome for both of the managers as well as the physician.
If a nurse made a medication error and did not report it then it could also be harmful for the face and as well as for the doctor in provision of the services to the patient. Each and every error which occurs inside any workplace should be properly reported as not reporting the error can create a huge slow in care provision which could be very harmful for the patient in terms of getting wrong treatment and having a life threatening fault which cannot be reversed.
It is legal and ethical responsibility of nurse to report the error as it is directly related with Patient Safety which cannot be compromised by any means. If any practice or skipping the error reporting is detected, strict actions should be taken by the managers of the organisation to implement better structure of care provision to the patient as well as maintaining strong code of conduct for mitigating quality care issues.
