The leaders of organization are responsible for job satisfaction of employees. They should create a motivating environment for all the employees so that they feel sense of pride while working for the organization. The fundamental behind numerous studies for organizational commitment is to find ways and means to improve worker’s job satisfaction and their commitment towards their work and organization. Organizational commitment helps in forecasting variables like job performance, organizational behaviour, organizational turnover etc.
John Meyer and Natalie Allen developed Three Component Model of Commitment. The model describes commitment of an employee towards the organization. They have described three distinct components as: - Affection for job or affective commitment – This occurs when an employee feels strong emotional affection towards the organization and also the work they do. These employees strongly identify with the goals and values of the organization and enjoy working with the company and enjoy it too. Second component is Fear of Loss or Continuance Commitment – This commitment comes into picture when an employee thinks of leaving the organization and weighs all pros and cons about leaving the company. Affirmative action is a legislative requirement under Executive Order 11246 that applies to certain employers who get grants and financial help from federal, state or local governments. The purpose of affirmative action is as to increase the collection of qualified candidates from diverse background.
