Select a company that you have identified as having gone through significant economic organizational change due to the recent economic downturn our country has been experiencing. Write your own case study of this company. Tell the story of what happened to bring about the change, the type of change, the change process, etc. Evaluate the change process and comment on whether or not the process could have been improved. Explanation / Answer
For this case, Starbucks would be the perfect example. Starbucks were operating and is famous for its coffee lovers. Near to their entry, it gained competitive advantage and earned the Goodwill. But since the market is uncertain and keeps on changing, they faced the downturn and various competitors like CCD and Barista. Their turnover almost diminished. Then the new CEO from the date of its joining, communicate openly to their employees that they need to fix their focus on being Consumer driven then an old approach of profit making. The day they put their efforts in this change process, by motivating the employees and involving them in decision making and explaining them why they need such change for their business. They opted the strategy wherein they involved their consumer directly by arranging a campaign wherein the general views of consumers were invited as to what changed does they want for MY Kinda Starbucks approach, and luckily, they received lakhs of comments and suggestions and they implemented some of them successfully. They again gained their customers trust and succeed in implanting this change by taking trust of their employees as well. In my present company which is real estate having the base in middle east countries and Canada, Australia, they are facing challenges due to complexity in foreign laws. Therefore, they are hiring the organizations providing them trained employees who have such knowledge in business context in such countries so that there would be complete knowledge of the market and culture of the organization.
