Health informatics is a wide term and can be used to refer the multidisciplinary application. Nowadays, advanced hospitals are using the health informatics applications to help and serve its patients to get the right information at right time.

Health informatics can be classified in multiple streams or levels such as basic application and advanced applications. Let’s understand the application in more details-

Basic level application- Once a patient is admitted to any hospital, he or she would expect all the useful information at one place. Patient’s medical information should be first hand made available and all the medical diagnosis report should be well synchronized with patient’s basic information. Health informatics modules ensure all these information are easily made available and it has become the part of regular process in more or less all the advanced hospitals.

Advanced level- Health informatics also covers the Bioinformatics application where a patient’s genomic or diagnosis results can be well interpreted and customized therapy can also prepared with help of system’s biology approach. This application is more useful for those patients who are at terminal stage of their disease and a well researched medical care can pull them off from the brink of death. Nowadays a lot of hospitals are practicing this approach to treat the patients suffering from critical illness.

Apart from above applications, health informatics also covers the medical tourism and medical conferencing to discuss about the patient’s case and further medical care plans.
