Explanation / Answer

In the year Volkswagen agreed to fake the emission tests on their diesel vehicles when it was found that the diesel engine had smart sensors which detect when it was being tested and changed the emissions accordingly. This was a huge situation for Volkswagen both in the terms of ethics and their brand reputation. They were forced to recall all of the vehicles they had put out with this system.

The foundational decision making values, in this case, could be considered to be at fault here. The position that Volkswagen is, as a brand, should have never even attempted to do such an unethical conduct which goes against the principles of not just trust but a change in the customer's value for the brand as well. The values at play here are integrity, decisiveness, deceit, forgery as well as unlawful conduct and it all related to ethics in the matter of severity. All these values can essentially be considered to be an important tipping point for any company, so much so that Volkswagen still haven't been able to recover from the aftermath of that incident. Volkswagen was caught, forced to recall all its products which not only cost it brand value but finances as well.

The stakeholders in this incident are the chairperson, The board members, the investors as well as the shareholders of Volkswagen which were affected the most by their action and the consequences of the actions that had to be taken in order to remedy the situation.
