Introduction

One to One staffing is a human resource consulting organization. It is being headed by Mr. Ali Bokhari who is serving as the President of the organization and Mr. Tasleem Siraj who is the present CEO of the organization. The company provides the services like human resource development and training, recruitment and talent acquisition services and business solutions to tackle common business challenges.

About Recruitment Department

I was associated with the recruitment services department in the organization during the internship period. It was based on providing general staffing solutions to the clients thereby focusing on end to end recruitment solutions. It offered the clientele solutions across diverse staffing requirements by providing contractual or temporary staffing specially made solutions. The department expertise’s in sourcing and retaining highly-skilled teams for projects of all sizes for the client-base. The clients of the recruitment services belong to a varied portfolio involving multiple industry sectors like Retail, Telecom, FMCG, FMCD, E-commerce, BFSI, Manufacturing, Agro and Agriculture, Healthcare, Life-sciences, Pharma, Hospitality, Education.

The Process for Internship

The process of internship involved applying for the internship online on the website of the company. Then I received a call from the company that was followed by a con call interview. After a con call interview a face to face discussion was conducted. Then after a weeks’ time I was confirmed about my internship position. After the confirmation, I submitted my documents and then received an appointment letter.

The whole process of the hiring was very smooth and step by step process. It was well coordinated and formalized process.

My Work Profile and Job Description

My duties involved sourcing and recruiting candidates by using databases, social media, LinkedIn, job portals etc. Further, screening the candidate resumes and job applications was also a part of my job profile. Preparing of recruitment materials and post jobs to appropriate job board was also included in my job duties. Finally, I was also involved in developing and updating job descriptions and job specifications of various positions.

Analysis of my Strengths and Weaknesses

During my internship, I came across some strength of mine that helped me in my job. My people skill helped me in analyzing the interest and outlook of the candidate while initial process of screening on the initial telephonic call. The way in which the candidate answered my initial questions on the call like reason for change and current job gave me an insight on the genuine behavior of the candidate. This helped me a lot in the initial screening thereby contributing to the increased number of candidate conversions.

The weakness of mine that I came across was the documentation process of the candidate The document updating and management was the area where I lacked. Thus I have to focus on the documentation and paper work formalities aspect of the job since it also forms a very important aspect of the recruitment process.

Strategies Used to overcome the Challenges

The strategy that I used to overcome the challenge of documentation was use of a tracker in an excel sheet wherein I used to enter the candidates approached for different positions, the potential conversion, the candidate who were to be contacted again, the interviews to be conducted, the follow- up calls and other such information so that no where the information leak took place.

Link between Academic learning and practical experience

Though there were not many similarities in the academic learning and actual on the job experience but the basic process and procedure was same as I had studied in my course work. But actual handling and analysis of the candidates can be learned during the actual practical recruitment process.

Expectation v/s Reality

I had expected a more formalized process but the actual reality was that the on the job training and experience is the one that trains and teaches an employee the most. Though the academic and book learning creates a base but the actual practical experience is the one that prepare a potential employee.

Conclusion

The overall experience was very informative and worth spending time upon. It gave me an insight on the actual work process and functioning of the recruitment industry. It was a great learning experience that has created a base fro my future job in the industry. It has modified my outlook towards the academic knowledge and has made me understand the link between my course and the job that I will perform in the future.

The actual experience was very different from my expectation and it changed my outlook of seeing and analyzing the things.
