3. In your opinion, did TCCC respond appropriately to this public issue? I believe that Coca-Cola responded appropriately by turning the public concern issue into their favour. They took in considerations of their internal and external stakeholders by addressing their concerns while solving the issue. The company shows commitment to the society, environment and most importantly the customers. Ans: In this case, the relevant issue is public concern about the quality, safety, and availability of fresh water. The case identifies eight radar screens these are the customer environment, competitor environment, economic environment, technological environment, social environment, political environment, legal environment, and geophysical environment. The most significant one is geographical environment, as the stakeholders were concerned about possible scarcity and contamination of an important natural resource ie, fresh water.
Coca-Cola had moved through each of five stages of the model which are identify issue, analyze issue, generate options, take action and evaluate results. The company responded appropriately by turning the public concern issue into their favour. The company understood the importance of water as ingredients and in the manufacturing process. Because of stakeholder criticisms for depleting groundwater, company had undertaken an extensive survey environmentalists and academic experts. The company had also taken initiative and progress towards meeting its goal of water neutrality.
