According to Secretary Ben Carson, M.D., the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development’s (HUD’s) Strategic Plan for Fiscal Years 2018-2022 has been revised. FY 2018-2019 AGENCY PRIORITY GOALS - Agency Priority Goals (APGs) reflect the Department’s key priorities for the next two years. For FY 2018-2019, HUD will track progress on these APGs:

Dr. Carson (2018) and his staff finds that in order to support American communities, HUD recognizes that the solutions of the past are inadequate to meet today’s challenges. Across HUD’s portfolio, there are numerous opportunities to better support local innovation, give communities the flexibility needed to more quickly implement proven solutions, and invite new philanthropy, businesses, and faith-based partners to be part of those solutions. The policy objectives laid out in this plan aim to right-size HUD’s role to better achieve our core mission to assist those in need and to support a path to self-sufficiency. Explanation / Answer

The proposed goals will be met through encouraging the upwardly mobile citizens who could afford independant, unassisted housing to quit the assisted housing in favor of the needy. This initiative will open up the opportunity for more homeless to own their assisted house. Sustainability goals in housing will be met by transformation of additional units built with assistance of increased input by the partners like philanthropy and businesses. The safety goals will be met by eliminating the hazardeous materials like lead based paints in the proposed housing.

By meeting these strategic goals, the agency will be able to bring more people under umbrella of affordable assisted housing scheme and providing them with safer and sustainable housing solutions.
