Explanation / Answer
Agile project management
Agile project management is a value driven approach that follows project managers to provide high priority, high quality work and make them look like Rock star performers.
Agile project management is replacement to erronous methodology in past. When customers are expected to finalize their view points before project execution it gives rise to lot of time wastages & over heads which can cripple the project cost.
But agile project management can embrace the changes and delivers the activity which creates highest business value in top priority. It provides real time information to tightly manage the cost, time and scope.
Agile project management easily breaksdown complexity by breaking down the month long cycle of building project requirements. Agile evaluates Cost and time as primary constraints and shares rapid feedback, contininuous adaptations to changing environment, Top quality process and meeting the deadlines.
Agile project management with scrum tools can be easily expanded to multiple projects and teams by centrally handling the requests.
Critical chain project management
It is a method of planning and managing projects. It emphasizes on people, equipment and physical space required to execute the project. this idea is developed by Goldratt.
This method is based on algorithms derived fro theory of constraints. Application of this technique can increase the project fast by 10% to 50%.
Critical chain is nothing but the critical path of the project. Critical path is the shortest path between project start and project completion which consumes lowest resources and hence lowest cost.
Critical path is identified by plotting the project as diagram with Nodes and arrows. Nodes depicts the process an arrow depicts the flow of materials. the process which has Earliest Start time equal to latest finish time shall be the critical process. The path which connects all the critical process shall be the critical path.
Critical path thus gives shortest path with lowest cost and lowest resource consumption.
