Explanation / Answer

1. The purpose of the article is to focus on the economic inequality in America. Their feel of powerlessness and insecurity due to the immigrants coming and taking their jobs.

2. The zombie metaphor is used to relate to economics because zombies are the mindless monsters who worked because they were powerless. This is similar to the jobless Americans finding their livelihood in the collasping economy. The zombies were related to the powerlessness of sustaining their economic power and the fear of foriegners who are taking their jobs.

3. Zombies are used as a popular metaphor because they are powerless monsters who are not clever and cunning and act as walking dead. These characteristics of zombies are considered similar to the youth of today who are mindless and powerless and insecure about their presence. The basic traits of zombies similarise to the condition of the citizens and economy today which makes it common to use them as a metaphor.

4. The solution provided by the author in the last section of the article is to discard the American imperialism that is causing such an economy which is unfavourable for the native youth. Economic opportunities should be created for everyone, giving thoughts about how the infrastructure can be improved, educating the youth and developing the enerygy systems. This solution is achievable if the government and citizens work on it collaboratively. Initiatives like forming strategies for the growth of economic structure and job opportunities for the native youth can be taken up.
