The case is brought up when African American workers at the Duke Power Company in North Carolina sued the company because of a rule that required employees who were transferring between different departments to have a high-school diploma or pass an intelligence test.
The main argued factor of the case, as employee ask the management to judge his performance on the bases of his work, not on the bases of the rule of mandatory diploma or intelligence test.

As this case is somewhat the eyes opener for the Management, especially in HR. As Griggs is the part of Duke Power doing his job effectively. As he is the employee of the company, so there is a company responsibility to set the growth path to their employee. If HR see that for any transferring internal to the department required High School diploma, so they has to set the learning and development department, who can help the candidate for this education and learning need. If this was taken care by Duke, I think will not be sued due to this mandatory rule.

I Agree with the outcome of the result. I do agree on the part that every organization is free to set there rules but if this was the fresh hiring they have full right to select the candidate as per his mandatory rule book but in this case Griggs was the employee, so company must have some growth path for the employees. If any of the mandatory rule come in existence than company has to set the department for education growth of the employee and prepare them for the same eligibility what other have.
