The risks that can’t be measured and those that the company has no idea about and accepting away makes the worst of the damage. While in some cases, ignorance is the strategy to prevent the company from liability exposure. Unknown problems go unnoticed by default and thus are not remediated. One as a process owner, especially in an IT company, where data is the key resource, one should be always on toes that there is no time where there is zero chance of risk. This can lead to paralyzing a company. Overstating and documenting risk more can dilute the attention of the employees from real risks.

Certain specific skills are required to make accurate risk assessment, like in depth technical knowledge, which can help in articulating the weakness of the systems and the impacts on Data security.

Risk has 2 parts , probability of things going wrong and the impacts and consequences of it.

Thus the ones that are foreseen with probabilities are analyzed. However the ones that only come into picture when the impacts hit, are the challenging ones, since those call for mitigation.

Strategic acquisition has to be best planned in terms of how much does it make sense in a situation where there is unrecoverable loss detected and there is no way than merging in with another organization who is at equal loss to embark on to a win win situation.
