The common features in all websites are the customer information regarding poduct choice, safety measures,community involvement initiatives, information about suppliers and investors and career sections. The differentiating factors are difference in emphasis and focus on various aspects that add to safety and enhancement of customer services and effective user interface.
The Canadian Pacific site is one of the most customer centric site giving detailed information about the industries it serves, choice of services, tarrifs, schedules and destinations. This information can be easily searched and accessed by the users. The Union Pacific focusses more on safety and innovation in its practices that include track monitoring by drones and promoting gender equality to name a few. CSX is more informative site rather than customer centric one. It shows more case studies, data and current events of the company. Norfolk Southern is also a customer friendly site that has every information regarding shipping and related products in addition to its efforts for sustainability and concern for environment. BNSF Railway site is also an interactive one with brief information of products and services useful for a potential customer. However it has little information on all other aspects.
Comparing the sites, Union Pacific and Norfolk Southern are relatively more informative and easy to use for customers, providing information in crisp, concise and effective way.
