In what ways are ethics and communication related to each other? In your answer, be sure to provide examples to support your explanation.

Of the three models of communication discussed in Chapter 1, which do you feel does the best job of capturing the essence of the communicative process? In your answer be sure to briefly explain the model you have chosen and use specific examples to support your position.

Do you feel that each of the seven contexts of communication is a "legitimate" area of research? If yes, briefly explain why you feel each is legitimate. If no, explain which contexts you feel are not legitimate areas and why.

Explanation / Answer

Ethics and communicaion are very much realted to one another for a successful business to happen. Communcation is merely exchanging the information with in the organisation, it can be through written or by oral. Where as when communication is related to ethics, it has to be accurate and on time such that it serves the purpose of effective business.

For ex: In an organisation just five minutes before an employee leaves from work he recives a mail from the boss asking for hepling the client with some problem. The employee reads the mail and realises the hard work he has to do to sove the issue and also he would be late. He just ignores the mail and leaves the office. Here the communication was done effectively but the employee failed to work ethically. So in order to have a good business the ethical communication is very important.

Of the three models of communicaion Linear, interactional and transactional, interactional models of communication is found to be effective . The boss and the employees of the organsation get in touch with each other sharing their views in a particuar problem.There will be direct communicaion with in the organisation.

In the case disscussed above, if the boss have called up for a standing meeting to help the client to solve the problem instead of merely sending a mail, the employee would not have left the office leaving the problem unattended.Instead of just communicating the problem, the process of communication should bring out the purpose of it.

The seven context of communication are

2. Interpersonal

4. Organisational

5.Public

6. Mass

7. Cultural. Of the seven context of communication Intrapersonal and interpersonal contexts are legitimate areas of research.

1.Intrapersonal: It is nothing but communication with oneself. It involves a lot of hard work nd self assessment to improve oneself. Anger management, handling ego, visulazing about ourself etc. Intrapersonal skills are mandatory for an effective team leader nd a manager. Only after doing lots of research on intrapersonal skills self motivation techniques have been developed. Only a person with good intrapersonal skills can lead a team sucessfully.

2. Interpersonal: Interpersonal context involves communicating face to face, relationship management, relation ship control, relation ship intimacy. Research in this context has helped the employees to over come shyness and work together as a team. And also where to have a control on the relation ship so that the work is not affected is also found through the reserch techniques. Person with good interpersonel skill are good team workers and the rsearch on this skill will help in developing methods for improving the skills of the other employees and motivating them.

With the research results of these two contexts and implemnting them effectively among the employees the teamwould become a successfull one. the research on other contexts does not seems to be mandatory.
