3.ORGANIZATIOS STRATEGY FOR IMPROVING DIVERSITY AT WORKPLACE:
Workplaces in todays multi national organizations are highly diversified in nature i.e.,people from different countries,ages,religions,or groups are present in the work place.This is due to the globalization of businesses.
simply the factors of diversification are:
1.people from all educational backgrounds
2.two genders
3.all races
4.all income groups
5.all colours
6.all age groups.
By proper training,including diversity training ,counselling and mentoring process the challanges of diversity can be removed.
The 5 successfull strategies for improving diversity at work place:
1.Introducing promotional policies:To remove bias and prejudice the promotional policies of organizations should be purely on the skills and talents of employee and according to suitability of job.
2.Privoding diversity training:By providing diversity training to all level employees it changes mind of employees towards women and minority employees.
3. Women training should be provided for aquiring managerial and technical skills.
4.conselling and mentoring:all women and the minority employees should be councelled to set their career goals.
5.Implementing innovation concept in organization inproves better source of team work.
2&4:Equal employment opportunity commission( EEOC):The equal employment opportunity commision takes its force from various legoslative points ,namely title VII of civil rights act.It was introduced in American legislative act.The functions of EEOC are:
1.View on discrimination:The EEOC first line of protection is on the discrimination that happens at workplace.This protects from employers discrimination at workplace in ways such as favourness, sex discrimination,sexual orientation or religious discrimination.
2.willingness to act as a mediator:The EEOC acts as mediator to hear before the case of dicrimination is in process from both employer and employee side.it acts as a mediator.
3.special initiatives to remove barriers of dicrimination at workplace: apart from acting as a federal law EEOC also brings up programs to remove the deiscrimination.It has brought for example Racisim and colourisim for employment(E-RACE)
4. Bringing specilal task forces:for special cases it brings special task forces.
5Works together with other agencies:The EEOC also works with other government agencies.It dedicates its work activities to bring qualitative workplace towards all Americans.
Title VII is applicable to all state government central government and private emoloyees at all workplaces related to diversification issues.
5.Differences between affirmative and EEOC:both of them are implemwnted by american government inorder to protect diversity at workplace.but they differ in their goals and administration.
The basic difference is
EEOC requires that employers fairly evaluate all job applicants without any dicrimination and EEOC also protects employee after hiring by providing effective training without dicrimination.
Affirmaitive action:It is a proactive method in which the suppressed groups are offered to be hired by employers by providing necessary taining and providing managerial positions.for women and minority more it is concerned.
1.while going for recruitment,selection,and training ,layoff employer ahould not have any dicrimition.
