With criticisms of lack of innovation and creativity, Microsoft was forced to change the way it operated. In 2014, Satya Nadella, Microsoft's new CEO, decided restructuring was necessary if Microsoft wanted to continue to compete at the top of the tech industry. Being behind on the latest mobile products, Microsoft continually produced mere uncreative replications of innovative products such as the Zune MP3 player and the Surface tablet. Part of the cause of this problem stemmed from Microsoft's unwillingness to work with competitors. To combat these problems, Nadella took a number of steps. He restructured the company's organization chart to better reflect the desire for Microsoft products to better work with each other. He changed the way Microsoft worked with its competitors such as allowing for Microsoft Office to be available on Apple products. He created Garage, a place where the general public can test out Microsoft's new ideas, to foster better research and development.

I find that Microsoft's restructuring of the company will aid in the attempt to fix the problems at hand. By understanding the aspects which made the company fall behind, they will be better equipped to tackle those issues. With their new project, Project HoloLens, an augmented reality device, I see them regaining their creativity and innovation they once had.

Explanation / Answer

Creativity and Innovation were the bases of Apple since they started. Restructuring is necessary for any tech company from time to time in order to remain in demand and fight with the on going competitions with rivals. Nadela did the right thing as Microsoft wanted to continue to compete at the top of the tech industry badly. Production of uncreative replications of innovative products such as the Zune MP3 player and the Surface tablet was not helping the cause. Allowing Microsoft office was a big and bold decision as it ensures that Apple is more open for their users then before and the Garage concept is very innovative as it allows users to participate in apple products by giving their own ideas to apple. It will boost the research and development work for apple. And a new project named Project HoloLens, an augmented reality device is a small glimpse of future innovation by Apple. All these steps surely welcomed by millions of Apple users world wide.
