Question
I am having difficulty understanding the connection between the two and how the pictured concepts relate to the following question.
Have you ever tried to change another person? If so, did you succeed? Please explain.
Authenticity Perhaps it's better to view authenticity as a work-in- progress rather than a static end-state. Viewing authenticity as a work in progress assumes that we are always learning about ourselves, the world around us, and what others need from us. It assumes that responding ethically and effectively to others and our environments challenges us to be thoughtful about when to fullv express ourselves and when to hold back and consider others' feelings and needs, when to stick to our position and when to find common ground, when to hold onto parts of ourselves that are precious and when to let go of parts of ourselves so that we can growExplanation / Answer
Changing a person implies changing the attitude and behavior of the person. Some of the qualities of the person might be innate while most are acquired over time based on the family, societal and professional settings.
I have come across a person who keeps finding faults with others for even minute things while ignoring the positive aspects in them. This makes the person unhappy most of the time, pointing fingers and avoiding socializing.
In this case, I have used the concept of authenticity to not hold back and express my thoughts in a structured manner about the individual's attitude and behavior and why he should change the same to ensure people socialize with him.
Also, the individual has been made to understand where is he going wrong by using the concept of acting as 'Meaning maker'. He should be guided on how others need to be viewed i.e. how to view the positive side of others rather than negative side.
