Question
Fern and Fern Allies (AKA the Pteridophytes or Tracheophytes) With this group we will transition to an alternation of generations that ?s dominated by the sporophyte generation as well as introduce xylem and phloem, vascular tissue. The bryophytes are non-vascular plants but most importantly they are unique because the gametophyte is the dominant stage in the lifecycle. The rest of the plant kingdom is dominated by the sporophyte generation. We will be looking at the rest of the plants under three different subcategories; fern and fern allies, the gymnosperms and the angiosperms.Explanation / Answer
Node: An emerging point of a stem from which the leaves arise.
Internode: The space os stem between two adjacent nodes
Frond: It is a part similar to leaves in fern plants.
Sorus: It is a cluster of sporangia (produce and containes spores) in ferns.
Annulus: It is a group of cells with thick cell walls and, can be found as a band of cells. The annulus throw the spores out of the sporangium and into the air.
Hygroscopic: It is the property that implies the ability to absorb water and moisture.
Chemotaxis: It is the movement of a cell or organism inresponse to chemical stimulus (simply we can call it as chemical attraction).
