List of leadership skills based on critical

Assumptions:

A - Process are fixed and implemented as per SOP

B – Jobs are monotonous and no scope of creativity

C – Efficient process keeping less chance for defect and rework

1 – Encourages creativity (Least critical): Processes like distribution of final goods from manufacturer to wholesaler or distributor is a routine job and is carried out as per demand. No scope for creativity. The target is to deliver maximum load per day and to minimize per km cost.

4 – Ability to delegate: One of the best qualities any business leader develops is the art to assign work to different people as per requirement

5 – Proactive Mentorship (Most critical): Lead by example is the best way of taking the team towards success.

Experience where perception found to be distorted

A delivery manager had 3 shift supervisor reporting to him. Every shift supervisor had a team of 12 delivery executives working across 3 shifts.

When the manager joined the organization, after observing the qualifications of the delivery executive he thought of changing the team as he was doubtful about their performance (Stereotype). Once, the manager found a deviation from set procedure by a supervisor. He later assumed performance of other two supervisors to be same as the former (Halo effect).

After analyzing the performance of the executives, he realized irrespective of their educational background, the executives were trained by the supervisors. The executives were multiskilled and were flexible to work across any shift.
