wash: 7 minutes per car

rinse: 5 minutes per car

wax: 6 minutes per car

1. If the car wash has a demand of 20 cars per hour, what is the flow rate of the process?

2. if the car wash has a demand of 20 cars per hour, what is the utilization of the machine that performs the wax process?

Explanation / Answer

1. Bottleneck process is hand dry and capacity of thos process is =60/8= 7.5 car per hour.

Hence flow rate is 7.5 car per hour

2. Capacity of wax machine= 60/6 = 10 cars per hour.

Utilization of the wax machine= 7.5/10= 75%
