Explanation / Answer
The core principle behind Lean Philosophy is the reduction of wastages (in any form) from a process/ system to make it more productive, transparent, responsive, and efficient. Let us take an example from the daily routine itself - preparation of study kits for the classes to be held. Assume that a student keeps separate notebooks for separate subjects and takes out particular notebooks for the classes of that day, keeps them inside the bag before going to the class. If the notebooks are not properly arranged in their respective designated location, a student will always search for them and this search process will take some time. This additional time for searching a notebook is a form of wastage.
An improvement in this process can be done by keeping a single notebook and using loose-leafs from this one notebook for taking notes everytime a class happens. Afterward, the loose leaves can be arranged according to the subjects' progress. The student does not need to search for any notebook in the morning before the class. He/ she can keep the single notebook inside his/ her bag and can take out loose sheets from it (by tearing out) in every class. In the afternoon, the loose sheets can be arranged class-wise and date-wise. The elimination of search time will lead to additional time for productive work in the daily routine.
