Explain the three primary training approaches: on-the-job training, classroom, and self-paced, citing the advantages and disadvantages of each.
Describe the process of how to select the best combination of training methods and media to maximize trainee learning for the planned training approach.
Summarize the activities involved in the process of implementing an HRD program.
Describe techniques used to assess training program effectiveness and demonstrate use of applicable metrics (e.g., surveys, pre- and post-tests).
Identify applicable global issues affecting HRD (e.g., international law, culture, local management approaches/practices, societal norms).
Explanation / Answer
(a) Organisation- Priorities need to be identified to fulfil the mission statement and avoid deviation from the same. (b) Task- The high priority tasks should be identified and completed to meet the set deadlines. Deadlines need to be met to maintain reputation and word. (c) Person- The employee should be able to categorise the priority tasks and meet the deadline criteria.
The "make versus buy" program for- 1. Creating HRD program- If new concepts aren’t involved and it involves the decision of existing practices then in-house things are possible. Selecting a trainer- If the session involves the introduction of new concepts, the outsourcing option needs to be considered as quality and shouldn’t be comprised upon.
(a)On job training- It refers to training by exposing to the real life, on field experiences rather than by cramming up concepts. Without preliminary introduction, it would be futile. (b)Classroom training- It refers to theoretical and computer-based learning approach by utilising predefined course books or references. It often leads to an unclear rhythm with hands-on experience. (c)Self-paced- refers to completing assignments without due dates. Procrastination and plagiarism are at its peak.
The best combination of training approach should be a perfect blend of all. Introductory classroom training followed by computer based training should be reserved for the initial stage. Self-paced can be opted along with on-job training experience to grasp advanced things related to the job.
Human resource development programme can be made easy by following techniques-Keeping updated with current scenarios. Current trend should be eyed upon. Evaluating the performance of the HR personnel on how effective are they at handling the other employees. Organising on the job training and keeping them aware of current practices.
The effectiveness of the training programme can be evaluated by testing the candidates on the grounds of the skills which were targeted to be honed. Tests can be evaluated or they can be assigned to explain the concepts to their peers. A survey can also be conducted to assess the quality of the training programme.
Issues affecting HRD-Change in policies regarding the employees calls for complete revamp. Introduction of policies for foreign nationals brings about challenges in bring process. Local management practices are bound to be inappropriate at times owing to lack of their reach and standardisation.
