Question
As we see from our readings this week, citizen participation in public-sector decision making has benefits as well as drawbacks. Think about the points made in the assigned readings and consider your personal experiences with public-sector decision making. Analyze a decision: Share a decision made by your local or state government and explain how public involvement played a role in the decision that was ultimately reached. Be sure to select government organizations, not private organizations that service the public.
Explanation / Answer
Public interference in decisions made by governments is a beneficial step as public interference gives the actual impact of the situation. When public gets involved governments come to know what is the actual situation and hence correct measures will be taken. But there are some disadvantages also with public giving their say in decisions. The decisions migth get biased or wrong decisions might be taken due to lack of knowledge. Hence a balance between both is important. For example when the governments decided to increases the minimum balance in banks, public involved and stated that they will face many difficulties with the step and hence the governemnt set a decent reasonable amount .Hence public involvement is always beneficial.
