Each of the stages takes into consideration different aspects that you must apply and explain in your recruitment process model. Remember that you must explain in detail how you will proceed in each of the stage.
Explanation / Answer
Recruitment is a crucial aspect of the HR function and organization. It is through successful and effective recruitment that the company`s competencies increase and they progress in the market when compared to the existing competitors. As given in the case, following steps can be used to recruit a candidate for post of General Manager.
To go through the steps in detail, we can consider this with an example of project manager in pharmaceutical company. All the points mentioned above are clubbed into few stages in the given case.
In Stage 1, before the interest is shared to the candidates, the HR and team would have to identify the need for the general manager and finalize this roles and responsibilities in the organization. To attract interest, we would have to post the job description in all possible platforms for job sharing. It would be wise to spread the information regarding the opening to internal team members too who can recommend and suggest their known friends. The recruitment message would carry the job description, job location, criteria for post and share contact details of the recruiter. A sample recruitment message would be as follows:
“Hi candidate,
ABC, a well known multinational pharmaceutical company is looking for project managers who have more than 10 years of experience in handling complex projects across multiple domains in pharma industry. The candidate would have to work in fast paced environment and should have know how of latest technology and solutions in the market. He should fulfill the requirement criteria and match the job description provided and showcase list of completed projects and the benefits from them.

Stage 2, as suggested is started when the responses are obtained and candidates start posting back on the job opening though various medium. It can be through online job portals or through social media sites where large prospective candidates hang out to discuss similar interests. As mentioned above, the candidate will have to go through a self appraisal to ensure he is a right fit for the organization`s opening. It could have something like:
Project management experience: 10 + years
Team size handled : 5+
Experience in Pharmaceutical industry : 5+
Worked on Projects including technology such as AI, NLP, ML, Blockchain etc.
The recruiter should himself be well versed in project management techniques and methods. He should be well versed in the team`s actual requirement and should be able to answer all the queries shared by prospective candidates. After these steps are done, initial screening of candidates are done and best candidates will be selected for an on site interview. The interview will be face to face and will have the leaders from organization to understand whether the candidate matches the vision and long term strategy of the senior leadership. The reporting manager would also be part of the interview to access the candidates capabilities to handle the team and perform well in the right scenarios. The interview will be focused on work done so far, plans for future, and multiple scenario testing to understand the solution and approach taken by prospective candidate. Based on the interview outcomes, the best candidates are chose for next round.
In stage 3, the management comes into play and finalizes the candidate. It will be based on the interviews conducted and matching the candidate to the person visualized while preparing the job description. Once the candidate is finalized, the salary negotiations begin till an agreement can be reached. In the modern era, with advancement of technology, the technological solutions will provide an ease of access communication mechanism between recruiters and candidates. It will also provide visibility and transparency of the application.
