Marketing is the process of creating a satisfying relationship between seller and buyer where all the functions of marketing including product, price, place and promotion are managed well to have satisfied customers.
When we talk about marketing, a number of marketing strategies and tactics come to our mind. Some strategies work best in some industry and some scneario whereas as other work better in different industries and scenarios depending upon several contingencies and factors. However when we have to discuss about what does great marketing in general implies then the following considerations should be made :
The great marketing strategy for any business need to have following elements -
1) A compelling story : Doing an effective marketing is like connectong dots of an irrestible story wherein market has to find and target characters at first which are its audience/target market, their challenges which becomes pain points and hence gives ideas for business, their motivations that is what they desire which would be outcome of marketing, climax which is the perceived vallue of solution that markteer provides and conclusion that is delivery of that value in terms of offerings by the marketer. Connecting the dots between all these elements surely make up effective strategy of marketing, misising or non alignment of any may lead to failure.
2) Technical expertise: Understandning and managing the technological system which integrates several messaging distribution channels need to emphasized. In the era ofelectronic world the opportunities and need of marketing at virtual channles cant be ignored.
3) Coordinate message: Whatever a marketer does in any of four Ps (price, product, place and promotion) it should provide a unified image of a strategy and unified goal. A consistent message/story should be told at all channels and customer touchpoints.
4) Incorportae employees voices - this has becme very essential when internal customers (employees) are being seen as important as external customers. The foundation of success is laid upon the happy and empowered employees. Authentic content relies on brand's unique voices and employees are part of it.
5) Focus on branding not selling: selling is shortsighted but not branding. Building up brand loyallty, crerating brand image and brand positioning all helps in long run but selling benefits in short run only. Market need to be focussed oon branding rather than on selling.
6) Creativity is also essential in all parts.
Now lets consider two brands who have successfully marketed their brand greatly.
Consider Apple which always market itself as a creative unit. All its product always get uodated from time to time, creativity and innovation has been given so much importance that every process in marketing of Apple creativity and innovation is promoted and upheld such as employees are empowered, intrapreneurship is also provided.
Another example is that of P&G whose vision is to provide offerings to all around the globe. TO its consistency it provides products of consumer goods to all income class of almost all category to numbers of countries at different suitable prices with great distribution channels.
