In the year 2015, Target was accused for violating the EEOC rights by using some discriminatory job assessing tests. Target was using discriminatory measures t hire potential recruits for the company. the discrimination was done on the basis of race and sex. The EEOC had launched an investigation against the company and had found out that 3 of the tests used by the company were resorting to discriminatory means. The assessments were designed in a way that discriminatory screening was done against the black, Asian and female applicants. The tests did not specifically focus on the job requirements but were aimed to hire specific American male candidates. This was a clear violation of Title VII of the Civil Rights Act, 1964. . This title prohibits discrimination from employer on any kind of bias like sex, religion, race, sect, etc. This serves the basis of providing equal employment opportunities to all.
