Answer 1: According to Baumgardner and Richards, the changes occurred since 1970 as a result of the feminist movement are, such as, women are free to go anywhere without having men around, they cannot be fired due to the pregnancy, they are allowed to study whichever area or subject of their choice, they can choose to select their career, they have voting rights, they are contacted by doctors to explain the after effects of “mastectomy” and to get their consent before the procedure, etc. But what surprised me about the age bar which is considered for a female when compared to male i.e. the male should be elder to the female, still women are considered at their fault when it comes to the ‘divorce’ and the kind of treatment any women get post-divorce.
Answer 2: If we talk about “glass ceiling”, I still see in corporate world the women are unable to move the ladder. When it comes to the health of a woman, there is still the lack of awareness on women related health issues. In my view, organizations should focus more on diversity programs to offer opportunities to women employee and help them to move up the ladder by mentorship and leadership programs. To create the awareness on women related health issues, more volunteering from organizations is required to spread the news and work with hospitals and government agencies to make this happen.
