Question

In the U.S., health insurance plays a major role in our healthcare system, and (not surprisingly) absorbs a big chunk of our healthcare dollars. A single payer system, either private or government run, could eliminate or reduce the complex system of traditional insurance, and could divert funds into provision of care. (A single payer system is popular in many/most of our peer countries, such as Canada, the UK, Australia, etc. Our own Medicare system is single payer, but predominantly restricted to those age 65+). To date, this has been continually defeated in the U.S. 1. Why are we opposed to implementing a single payer system in the U.S.? 2. Do you think this could become a reality in the U.S. in the foreseeable future?

Explanation / Answer

Single Payer system is a system in which only one payer pays the insurance generaly through taxes. It reduces the structural process and it saves funds.

Q.1. Why are we opposed to implementing a single payer system in the U.S.?

Ans . - There are sevral reasons which people believe why single payer system is not going to happen in USA

1..) It might be a rumor but it speaks very loud that the lobby is stopping the government, as pharma, insurance, hospital lobby are powerfula and they are stopping government from applying this.

2.) In USA the doctors fees, their visits, priscription fess is much higher in comparision to other countries. Infact the medical insuarances don;t cover many things.

3.) National health care act and Affordable care act are two major reforms were seen by US in health industry which were a move taken to create a substitute of single payer system, despite this 20% of US citizens don't have the insurance. And it cost the government a big portion of funds.

4.) Government is still focusing on making the existing system more accurate despite of having so many arrears in it.

Q.2  Do you think this could become a reality in the U.S. in the foreseeable future?

Ans . - Yes, It can be possible in nearby future

1.) A single payer system US medicare is already in existence

2.) A debate was also arranged in senate in this relation, to make the US medicare more powerful and primary US insurance scheme.

3.) As both the two systems NHCA and ACA were failed to give the results which they claimed before there launch, again ther emight be a chance that it can come in existence.

4.) Current system of Insurance doesn't cover the 20-30% of population of USA, after this it this figure can be reduced
