Explanation / Answer

1. All the factors that affect the functioning of an organization are known as the Organizational environment. Earlier, only external factors were considered under the definition but now even internal factors are a part of the Organizational environment.

Internal environment comprises of all the factors within the organization, mainly composed of the various stakeholders & culture of the organization. External environment are the factors beyond the boundaries of any organization, which are broadly classified as the General Environment (the legal, social, political, economical and technological factors) and the Task Environment (the groups outside the organization with whom business is carried out, like, suppliers, distributors, owners, etc.)

The task environment of a new Internet-based company as well as a large government agency would partly be the same since both of them need to deal with external entities, be it suppliers, distributors, markets, etc to get their business carried out effectively since no business can be carried out in silos, be it a new Internet-based firm or a large government agency. Even though the task environment is majorly the same, the differences would be observed in dealing with these entities. For example, a new Internet-based company would be dealing with greater dynamic task environment, lesser trustworthy bonds since being new to the market, lesser influence, etc.

2. Contrasted with organizational planning 25 years back, there are vast innovative advances that have been made with greater hardware, information and systems that can be used to help in basic leadership. In the present scenario, the business condition is continually changing and advancing and with this view into consideration, planning is similarly more vital today. With decrease in global boundaries and increasing diversification, every organization has immense scope to expand its business today as compared to 25 years prior. This expected expansion can be achieved successfully by being proactive and effective planning of both strategies and resources. Also, since today dynamism has increased manifold, planning becomes highly important to gain sustainability throughout the coming years.

In a world where everything is changing fast and crises are part of organizational life, planning becomes highly important because with increasing dynamism, there is always a need to be proactive. There is always a dire need to mitigate risks and in worst case scenarios, be ready with contingency plans in case of any failure. Thus, planning holds a very high importance in such scenario.

3. In cases when there are changes that cannot be enabled by a single organisation alone, mainly due to lack of resources, they get involved with interorganizational/strategic partnerships. These partnerships may be via joint ventures, alliances, takeover or co-option but they usually have a common driving force leading to such decisions. There are cases when organizations even undergo such partnerships to become a market leader.

The organizations’ dependencies get reduced since post partnerships, there are two entities striving for a common goal. However, authority might get hampered.

Performance always gets more effective and efficient, provided both organizations are working in a synergic manner, since partnerships provide a fresh and unbiased approach towards any solution that needs to be resolved. This helps in exploring more options to deal with the problem and more effectively.
