1. I believe that performance is a dependent measure and depends a lot in how an individual is being treated in an organization right for the beginning. I believe that if we follow certain steps and approaches, performance is inevitable, the first step should be proper induction of the candidates hired irrespective of the job level they are hired for be it freshers from college or experienced professionals. They need to be made aware of the organization and the legacy and value of the image it possess which needs to be maintained. It should be followed by a training programme and this should depend on the level of job for example in case of a fresher it should be a formal prolonged training process involving both technical and business aspect that is required. Some specialized skills will require specialized training and that should depend on the level of training required.
Counselling is also an important aspect and helps in developing and improving performance of an individual if they are not performing UpTo the level that is expected from them. I believe that collectively such activities will help in performance problems and as I have experienced such activities and measures to be successful in this context.
2. Rewards and recognitions play an important role in the performance system of an organization or unit and can actually be used as a motivator for raising the performance level of individuals. Generally performance appraisal in our organization is linked with the pay and compensation of the employees and depending on the level of performance the compensation is revised. Rewards and recognitions also are present and employees with outstanding performance for the organization are rewarded. Again rewards are used to motivate employees who may not be doing very good for sometime to boost and enhance their morale and this is used quite effectively as well which ensure that they have quite and impact if used appropriately. Organizations today use some additional benefits like travel to a different country for a project which is quite attractive as they have to chance to earn more and also travel to other countries.
