DMAIC cycle has five phases -
A. Define :-
This phase identifies the goals and objectives of a project.
OPPORTUNITY FLOW DIAGRAM comes under define phase.
The flow diagram is used to organize the plan for the project.
B. Measure :-
This phase determines the problem in a project as well as the current performance.
DATA COLLECTION and FLOW CHART comes under measure phase.
Data collection is used to see the various possibilities of the project going wrong.
Flow charts is used to determine the voice of the customer and the requirements of the production as per the clients.
C. Analyze :-
This analyze phase determines the root origin of the defects.
PARETO CHARTS and CAUSE AND EFFECT/FISHBONE DIAGRAM comes under analyze phase.
Fishbone diagram detemines the possible causes of the problems in a project.
D. Improve :-
The main aim of improve phase is to eliminate defects as well as finding possible solutions for the determined problems.
RUN CHART comes under improve phase.
Run chart uses the available resources present in the organization and tries to find solutions for the problems.
E. Control :-
This is the last phase of the cycle. This phase checks whether the project actions are well implemented and maintained.
