1. Erythropoietin, called EPO, has become a drug used illegally by some athletes. Which athletes use EPO, that is, in what kind of sports? What benefits are they hoping for? What part of a CBC would indicate that an athlete is taking EPO? Explain.

Epo is used by cyclists. Epo i used to increase the number of RBCs in ones ciculatory system . its a hormone that promotes RBC production since RBC carry oxygen from lungs to rest of the body adding more of them to ones circulation should enhance the delivery of oxygen to ones muscles, improved oxygen delivery in turn might help the muscles perform better. In CBC the number of RBCs will increase which would indicate that athlete is taking Epo.
answer 2. there is an increased urination in patients with diabetes because diabetes causes blood glucose levels to rise, increased glucose levels cause body to pull fluid from cells into blood stream and delivers the increased load to the kidneys, causes them to produce more urine than nomal , due to excess of urine passing persons thirst is increased.
with diabetes small blood vessels are injured. when the blood vessels in the kidneys are injured kidneys cant clean blood properly , blood retains more water and salt , protein is present in the urine , waste materials build up.
diabetes causes damage to the nerves in the body , difficulty in emptying bladder , the pressure resulting from the full bladder can back up and injure kidneys.
